Wow, so instead of posting once a day for a year I posted 3 times then quit. Typical.

Oh yeah, and I had a kid. But that's hardly a good excuse.

So I hope to be returning to posting regularly soon but we'll see, raising a kid is...time consuming. And it eats your brain.

Monday Blues

Or should I say Grays. It's been overcast all day and according to the meteorologist fag on TV it's going to stay that way for a while. Although, to be perfectly honest it would be most correct to say blacks because it 12:42 in the morning and its night time.

Which leads me to my next point. Shit! It's 12:42 in the morning! I have to go to work. Dammit. Why are weekends so friggin' short!? 

But going back to the weather thing that reminds me. If you start following what I write here you'll notice that things that I think suck or are bad I refer to as being gay, if it's an inanimate object, or a fag if it's a person. 

How homosexual terminology got such a negative connotation is beyond me. I have no idea. Suffice it to say that it's a blinding example of social linguistic hegemony. So as far as I'm concerned my excuse is that that's the way I was raised--not by my parents--but by my peers. It's definitely not okay, it's just realistic.

That being said, on to the week ahead. My dad has decided to buy me a TV for christmas and is waiting on me to tell him which one. I think I'm going to go with the Samsung FP-T5084 and I'm going to talk to him this week about it. Hopefully we'll be able to get it by this weekend.

Otherwise there's just work to think about.

Okay, I missed a day.

Right now

Alright, it's Sunday and I completely blew the post for yesterday. 

You can't see it but I'm actually laughing and pointing at myself for violating my own rules for this blog. In my own defense though Comcast sucks balls and my internet connection was out all day Friday and half of yesterday. Let me explain.

Two days ago...

My girlfriend and I got home after work Friday and I noticed that I couldn't browse the web. Ever the intrepid IT geek I fired up the xbox just to see what would happen. I used the connection test option on the xbox and I was able to get an IP address and send some packets, it would seem, but the DNS servers were unavailable according to the xbox.

I have a WRT54G running DD-WRT v23 at home and I have static DNS servers (OpenDNS) setup because for the most part they're faster than the ones Comcast runs and they correct for things like someurl.cmo replacing it with someurl.com. So this made me suspicious of the DNS servers. I logged into my router and tried to remove the DNS servers I had setup but the router wouldn't save the changes I was making which started making me suspicious of the router itself. 

At that point I really didn't give a fuck anymore and I was feeling lazy and pissed after a fairly long week so I gave up for the time being and planned on trying to connect directly through my cable modem the next day. 

One day ago...

So now it's yesterday and I directly connected the laptop I initially setup the Comcast connection with to the modem. For some stupid reason Comcast requires MAC address registration of the PC you are using when you install a cable modem. I was running out of ideas and I figured it was on their side at this point but I wanted to make sure.

Sure enough I couldn't connect with the laptop. 

I called Comcast and had a two minute dial-tone conversation with their phone tree which resulted in the problem being resolved. The online "assistant" reset my modem remotely which completely fixed the issue.

I attribute not posting for the rest of the day to sheer laziness.

Back to right now...

So there it is, a partial explanation for not posting yesterday and a post on Sunday. Two birds with one stone! Yes! FTW!!

Just kidding. Let me post this shit and I'm gonna crack the whip on the old synapses. Hopefully they'll create something for today.

First Post!

Wow, this is a lot more difficult than I thought it was going to be...I've been sitting at my desk staring at my monitor for the past 5 or so minutes wondering what I should write about.

...And I just spent the last couple minutes re-reading that last sentence. Getting back into the swing of this whole blogging thing is a pain. I seriously don't know where to start, this is going to be rough.

How about the beginning?

Excellent idea! Okay, so I had a blog which I started in '04 and which I pretty much abandoned in '06. Not to put too fine a point on it 2007 was the worst year of my life, as many of you who are reading this are no doubt aware. I feel less creative, less funny, less passionate, more bitchy, more angry, and more stressed. Which leads us here, to this blog.

I decided last night while I was laying in bed that I would start a new blog and attempt to post at least once a day. I'm hoping that with this blog and some willpower I will be able to restore some of what I have lost by getting those creative juices flowing again.

So my plan is just that simple. At least one post a day. It might be as simple as a link or as complicated as a diatribe on intelligent design and how it is ruining humanity. Or something even more random. Fuck it, let's see where this takes me!

If you guys have any ideas on posts too let me know okay? I'm seriously going to be in need of material.
